Thank you to everyone who has attended a Building Project Focus Group or contacted me directly. I really appreciate your insight and feedback. We have two more sessions this Sunday following both services, as well as one on Wednesday, February 12 at 6:30 p.m. The session on Sunday at 9 a.m. will be in the Chapel, as there are too many people signed up to fit in the Library. Please make sure to get your thoughts to me by then, as we will then be talking about what our next steps will be.
At the Annual Meeting we promised to do more to publicize the Adopt a Highway dates, and also to try to make them more accessible. There is a sign-up sheet in the Parish Hall with three Saturdays in May. If you’d like to join us for Adopt a Highway, please sign up and mark the dates you would be available.
Lent is approaching and we have two Lenten devotionals available. The first is the Living Compass – Practicing Courage with All Your Heart, Soul, Strength, and Mind. Lent is a time for introspection and self-reflection, a time to reflect on the core of what it means to live a Christian life in the midst of great change and uncertainty. When facing change and uncertainty, few practices are more central to that life than courage—the courage to be vulnerable, the courage to grow, the courage to change direction, the courage to let go, the courage to act with grace, and the courage to walk the way of love.
The Living Compass booklets can be found in the narthex entrance. Booklets are available for all parishioners. Join us on Wednesday mornings at 9:30 am in the Chapel on starting on March 4 through April 1.
The second is something new for St. Mary’s – Lent Madness. Based loosely on the NCAA basketball tournament, Lent Madness pits 32 saints against one another in a single-elimination bracket.
Here’s how it works: on the weekdays of Lent information is posted at www.lentmadness.org about two different saints. Each pairing remains open for 24 hours as participants read about and then vote to determine which saint moves on to the next round. St. Mary’s will have the “Saintly Scorecards” with information about each of the initial 32 saints will be available to pick up in the Narthex or Parish Hall. We will also post the bracket in the Parish Hall and fill it out during Lent.
I hope you will pick up one or both of these resources as you prepare for Lent.
Prayers and blessings,
